I havn't had to do this for a while but we need to provide and maintain a new server to host the following and was hoping someone had some recommendations for make/ spec etc. We have no particular preference for servers other than parts availability and warranty etc.

The Mitel guidelines are OK for individual Virtual machines.

The customers existing server is EOL and also contained lots of other apps that have since been moved to the cloud. They wish voice to stay on site.

Virtualisation will be VMware.

It is approx 150 users on MiVB
MiCollab for all users
MiContact for approx 30 agents
MBG for above plus 30 SIP Trunks & SRC
Windows Server image also required for Call Recorder (Red Box)

Resiliency will be via an existing MXE3

havent done physical server for a while ( mostly customer supplied or cloud)

when we did we normally use something like a rack mount ibm or hp server ( dont go cheap with less than an enterprise server)
- dual power is helpful as well especially if you have multiple sources ( UPS and Mains) as it allows ups outage without dropping the voice servers

- you want to make sure it has plenty of ram ( and it will need some for vmware itself)
- also make sure its dual cpu - we ran out of cpu once when trying to deploy the enterprise mbg
- for storage,we used to use SAS in RAID 10 as a minimum but ssd is much checper these days
- we also deployed the vmware on SD RAM rather than having it part of the Raid array

we use the server dealers to provide a quote - normally send min specs like
- supply a price for rack mount HP with dual power dual CPU min 32 GB RAM 600GB HDD in RAID 10
- flahs memory for vmware

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....
