Greetings,

My windows 2000 advance server has rebooted on its own about 4 times today. I have looked in the eventvwr to find nothing about why it rebooted. This has AD installed and exchange 2000 on it. Where would be a good start?

Any info would be great

Thanks

maybe a hardwre issue did u have any powere issues going on is it attached to a ups are check your ups

The power has been fine and the ups is working okay. Also this is a HP ML 350

Do you have the option to automatically restart the server when it blue-screens (assuming it's a driver/dll issue). Try disabling that to see if a blue screen error appears.

I uncheck auto reboot and I click on okay it freezes. I force it to close and go back and the check is back in. I have done this a few times now. I'm goint to let sit for awhile to see if it takes which I doubt it. There are no services getting hosed either

Is it possible that you can run a memory test on it (ie. memtest86)? Our server started acting quite strangely, and on the next reboot it told me one of the sticks of ECC RAM failed.

You would have to shut the server down to do this, it would not be available during the test.

If the power supply is going out of spec, or the capacitors on your mobo are "going", it would cause this. I would open the case, check the motherboard for bulging or blown capacitors, also check the power supply. With the PS do not touch anthing within the supply, voltages can be over 200 volts. Aging power supplies are the biggest culprtit.

Chernobyl disaster..a must see pictorial

Here it is on sunday and I'm at work trying to fix this server

I booted up with the smartstart cd and ran some diag everything check okay. I did figure out that it is my exchange service that is crashing. I uninstalled an update I did about 4 days before all of this started happening. so now I'm at least gettting email again. that quit on sat. I play the waiting game with my fingers crossed. Thanks for everyones help. If I'm still having trouble I will post to the exchange forum

Thanks Again
