I've got a Dell PowerEdge (6300?) that yesterday began rebooting without notice or record. It happened about every 2hrs until I switched the UPS it was connected to which I thought solved the problem. Some 30hrs later, it has rebooted again and the server that it is sharing the UPS with has been online for days.

The event logs show NOTHING leading up to the reboot. All I see is the messages after the fact logging the "processor is free" followed by the "Events log starting up".

All indicator lights on the front are green as advertised. Can anyone shed some light on the subject??

Thanks in advance! ________

UPS has caused my PE2400 to re-boot before, you might want to look at the UPS settings within your OS, Win2000 asked me about the configuration of the serial UPS connector, so it is possible to configure incorrectly...

Has it restarted in your presence, and if so, were there any warnings of any kind?

sorry I can't be of more help, hope you sort it...

for pint$ = 1 to 20
for pint$ = pint$ + 1
if pint$ = 20 goto HOME
next pint$

I had a Dell 3200 reboot with no warning or errors due to a bad DIMM, I replaced the memory all was fine. Might be worth trying it.

reinstall the latest service pack.. is the first suggestion..
