Good afternoon.

I have a file server that's running out of space. I purchased a Nas server that has plenty of space and I would like to copy one of our folders to that Nas. I would like for anyone going to that folder to be redirected to the new Nas server, without having to remap my users. I have some Mac clients so it's not as simple as writing the script. It's also a subfolder of a shared folder. Please let me know if anyone has an answer for this.

Thanks for the reply.

As for moving the share to the new location. That's where I could use the help. I have roughly 200 people, 120 pc and 80 macs. I am looking for a way to have them pointed to the new location without traveling to all the macs.

Is there any reason why you can't setup a simple shortcut on the original server pointing to the share on the NAS device?

Move the share to the new location and you won't have to touch any of the PCs. Delete where it currently is, recreate it at the new location.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

How was the share originally provided to the users? If they're connected to \\servername\sharename, then moving the share to a new server won't solve the problem of the clients pointing to the old share.

I agree...but he's wanting to move the share to a NAS.
