I'm currently looking for a solution to monitor our server environment which is made up of mainly Windows 2000 & 2003 servers with a few unix systems mixed in. All together we have around 60 servers that we need to have monitored. We are currently using a free unix based application (Nagios) which is proving to be difficult to manage. The technical person who brought this product in is no longer with us and we do not have a dedicated Unix person on-site. I've already worked with BMC Patrol and had some bad experiences with the server side piece in terms of resources needed for the agent. I am looking for a good windows based monitoring tool that is easy to configure and won't take up a lot of resources on the server end. Any input would be appreciated.

Hi kb9451,

What are you looking to accomplish with the Server monitoring tool of choice?

Thanks asmith1972. It looks to be a good fit. I will read more about it when I get the chance.

Binkie3010 - I am looking for a monitoring tool that will alert our tech admins when a problem that needs attention is arising. (ie disk space, memory usage, network connectivity). Our current system is alerting on too many parameters and our IS group is starting to ignore the alerts which is going to cause problems when there is a problem that really needs to be looked at.

kb9451,

If this is your criteria, I would take a look at SysTrack from Lakeside Software ( In my experience, SysTrack can be installed in minutes, and provides useful monitoring data literally right out of the box.

Check it out when you have a chance.

Good luck!
