Are the PLDS licenses associated with the server MAC address?

Should the Vmware virtual machine have statically assigned mac addresses instead of having dynamically assigned mac addresses?

PLDS associate with the Feature Key (FK) number on the SD card.
MAC address are hard-coded by the network device manufacturer, and cannot be changed/assigned (you can spoof a MAC address through some advanced network routing, but generally isnt required).

I have two Linux version IPO servers (10.1 sp5) that are virtual machines in a VMware environment. I also have a number of expansion systems at various sites.

Basically, I need to upgrade the version of vmware, and I'm afraid of having the mac address change on the virtual machines because they aren't statically assigned. In the past, licensing was mangled and one of the servers had to be rebuilt to bring the second node back on-line after a mac address changed when the virtual machine was migrated to the other host.

Good enough.

I know for other systems (Cisco Call Manager) this factors into the host ID, and thought that it was also the case in IPO.
