It's been a rough nite.....

I had one of my servers give me fits last night to the point of putting in a backup. I came in on the holiday to do some maintenance and when I rebooted this server ( it's had a great uptime )it goes through the normal boot sequence, but hangs at the "Starting WIndows.." screen with a solid white bar at the bottom and all disk activity stops.

Safe mode does the same as well as last known config.

It's not a hardware problem with the server as I can put another hdd in it and all is well. The hdd doesn't seem to be screaming at me so I am assuming that the hdd isn't physically bad.

Could anyone recommend a tool to maybe boot in to to see what's up? I'm really not thinking straight after just a few hours of sleep.

Thanks guys

Here's a quick update:

I tried a repar - no go.
I tried a fresh install with the full format of the hdd to ntsf - no go.
Ran memdiag86 - sure enough I had a bad stick of memory.

Removed it and reinstalled OS - life is good.
