Server hanging in Domino R6

I have upgraded our domino environment to R6. 8 out of 9 of our servers come up successfully (they all reside on a single iSeries running OS400 5.1) but one "hangs" and a series of tasks get stuck initializing (HTTP, MT Collecter & Stats). All the servers are built to the same spec and the server in question is even part of a cluster. I was attempting to troubleshoot the problem by starting the server with none of the hanging tasks but it seems to cache the notes.ini settings somewhere. Despite manually removing the tasks from the notes.ini and doing a OS level file copy of names.nsf with the tasks removed from the configuration document, the tasks all try to start and the notes.ini has "reincarnated" them in the ServerTasks parameter.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my server loaded in any state so I can at least try to troubleshoot my initial problem.

Regards,
Tony.

Are you logging to an external "console.log"? If so you need to look and see what it's doing. It may just be doing a consistency check and if you have a lot of databases and you did something like disabling transaction logging - this could take several hours for the server to start if you have a few thousand mail files.

In Unix you'd just do a "tail" of the console.log but I don't know what the OS400 equivalent is.
