Hi

We have a customer with a virtual SE on Hyper-V
It seesm he has been using a backup package which has caused some issues, unsurprisingly.
I have not been able to find any documentation as to regarding 3rd party backup, can anyone point me in the right direction please?

fairly sure that doing a backup on a running VM is a recipe for bad news though!

Thanks

dave

it depends on the software I presume but generally speaking almost all virtualization backups are done while the server is running. We use Veeam for backups and works quite well. Just curious - what is the problem you are facing?

I am curious as well as to what the problem is?

For our clients with SE on HyperV we use the built in windows backup for daily backups and we have never had any issues with it or when a restoration of a file or the entire server is needed.

I imaging that the backup well freeze the storage which is a problem for a real-time application.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I've used snapshots on both Hyper-V and VWware without issues, also used Veeam as backup for these.

Never had any issues with servers I've managed myself, but on some partner/customer hosted solutions.
Usually it's been due to having to many VMs on the hardware or slow storage.
I also like use a separate interface for all VoIP applications.
