My windows 2000 server which runs active directory, sp4, norton corporate antivirus, goldmine and a payroll app, as well as a backup program crashes every two weeks on thursday at about 11:45pm.
Make sure you don't have anything scheduled for that time. Check in registry...
HKEY Local machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run
I had a problem when the server tried to initilize the tape backup we had(old drivers) and would crash, and the backup was set to back up then.. also check your services you have running... maybe even a bad power supply
only thing in run are 2 entrys:
1. vptray for notron antivirus and
2. powerdesk for my videocard,
there both under run.
i'm using backup exec, not the latest version.
i set my sntp clock, so that when i get an error again i'll know if it's more like 12 vs 11:43pm. my tape backs up at 3am, the only thing that happens at 12:00 is live update for norton antivirus, but it happens everyday. i guess i'll have to trun things off 1 by 1 until i find the beast in the machine :0-( how would you figure power to be a possible problem when it happens with such consistancy. oh yeah forget too mention. the machine doesn't hang, it actually shuts down completely power and all??
