Have windows 2000 Pros connected to a Win NT4.0 server. One workstation keeps dropping connection to the server. No problem connecting to the internet. It's just constantly giving the user an error message saying that there is no longer connection to the server.

The protocols being used are Microsoft client for networks, file & printer sharing, TCP/IP & 3com BAITDI DMI TDI.

Does anybody know a solution to this? It's just extremely annoying to the user.

Since the user can log on and function on the network, at least for some period, this seems like a hardware/cable issue. I'd move the workstation or change the cable/NIC to see if the problem goes away (one at a time and test each).

Thanks. Did try the changing cables already. The NIC is integrated with the motherboard but will try installing a NIC card and see if that will do the trick.
