Hi,

I have a Server running on Server 2003 that keeps rebooting on its own randomly. I have went through the Event log but nothing was found. I have also unchecked automatic updates and automatic restart on system failure. I have also checked through the Services. Only these following services are set to restart the system automatically upon failure, with no recovery options:

1) NTLMSSP
2) Dcom Server Process Launcher
3) Event Log
4) IPSec Services
5) Kerberos Key Distribution Centre
6) Net Logon
7) Plug n Play
8) Protected Storage
9) Security Accounts Manager

How do I find out the actual cause of this rebooting problem? All suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

If you go through the logs, you will see when. Is it the same time each day / week / month? If not, I'd suspect you'll see "the last shutdown was dirty" which would suggest a driver or hardware issue causing a BSOD.

Hi,

Thank you for your advice. Unfortunately, my Server was installed in Chinese language and it was pretty difficult for me to translate "the last shutdown was dirty" to chinese. Is there any particular eventid or error code that I should look out for, that will indicate that the Server goes through an unexpected shutdown?

Have you checked for issues with the servers power supply, memory issues. Check the BIOS logs, and ensure that you proper power conditioning for your server

There should be 3 event in system log, with category as event logs. I think its 6007, as others have suggested it could be hardware as if it was a bsod you would have found the message there after turning off ASR.
