Is there an easy way to identify which version of Server 2003 is installed on our server, excluding the supporting documents of course?

Use the system properties in control panel, the general tab shows what operating sysem you are running.

I know is Windows Server 2003 but need to know which edition and licences that are installed information.

Dont the version numbers means anything?

The tab should show you the OS the version and also service pack info

As for licensing there is a licencing icon either in control panel or in the adminastrative tools folder in the control panel can't remembe rwhich they should tell you most of what you want to know.

It sais Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server.

R there different versions of SBS 2003? Which one is it based on the 4 editions that microsoft separates on their website (Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition,Datacenter Edition, Web Edition)?

According to MS website there are only two versions of the Small Business Server -
Standard and Premium. SBS is different, at least in the delusional minds of MS marketing, than MS 2003 Server(Standard, Web, Enterprise, Data Center).

It appears that if you have SQL2000, ISA Server 2000 and Frontpage Extenstions are added to the standard edition of SBS to make the premium version.

SBS (both Premium and Standard) is Windows Standard Server with AD limitations thrown in. Other than the AD and user/device count limits, it is subject to the other limitations of Windows Server Standard.
