We are getting HEAVY echos through our 5610 phones when using analog trunks ATM4 module. Weird thing is that it is every time a user picks up the phone and it goes away after 3-5 seconds. Another post said that echo cancellation may take a few seconds to "kick in" this is unacceptable to us. I have seen other posts on this issue with numerous suggestions. I was hoping for a fresh one. Thanks in advance....

there is a big difference betweenthe 5 10 30 vcm chips compared to the 4 8 24. I had the same issue with a 403 and atm16. Was using vcm 10, changed to vcm 8 and no more echo, we are using 4620 ip phones. Its a known issue with avaya along with the first generation analog 4 port cards, I beleive the atm4u's are ok.

Update:

Put in the VCM 8 and yes, problem pretty much went away. Users are happy now. Will make sure to order the correct "EC" vcms in the future. Thanks for all of the input.

Cool, I think the VCM8's are actually very similiar to the 10's but the last 2 channels are used for echo cancellation...I'm sure I heard that somwhere :)
