Hi all,

I just got 10 "serialized" avaya 6408D+ phones from a vendor that I normally do not buy through.

I'm trying to get these to work on my G3SI Version 11 with a TN 2224B ciruit pack.

The problem is that I can't break the dial tone to TTI the phone. I checked line polarity by making a crossover and that didn't help out either.

To get the phone to work, I had to manually assign the port number on the station form. All is well with this but I really need to be able to TTI these 10 serialized phones.

Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Update on this...The TTI feature is now working after manually assinging the port to the station.

So, I guess I'll just have to manually assign all the phones and then they'll be good to go from there on out.

Thanks

Mike

I just put in 100 serialized phones without having to assign the ports first. I did have an initial issue where i could not tti in a phone until i put a port on it. As it turned out that issue was caused by my dial plan not including the phones i was trying to TTI in. My UDP said that the 4xxx extension were at another site. So until i put a port on them it would not let me TTI them in. I adjusted the UDP and all is well.

I dont think your issue has anything to do with them being serialized.

Hmmm...I see what you're saying but what about this? When I first plugged the line into the phone, the switch had no idea what extension I wanted to use because it wouldn't even let me break dial tone. My UDP is setup correctly so I'm thinking it has to do something with what the phone comes loaded with.

Thanks for your help with this, I really appreciate it.

I'd susupect something funky on the board then. I thought about your post after i sent my last one and your right UDP would not have anything to do with not being able to break dial tone.

I have noticed that when i plug phones in on the new system that it takes some time for them to start working if its a new phone. And occationally i get wierd port problems. Busying the port and releasing it ususally clears up the probem. I chaulked it up the board.?

I just had a similar (if not the same) problem. I was testing a series of ports in prep for an upcoming move. I could not break DT on any of the vacant ports. Once I manually assigned the port to my test phone, they all seem to be working. My thanks to this forum and it's participants!
