How do i get the serial numbers of a H70 RS/6000 machine running AIX 4.3.3???

Hello,
Only and easy way is to look at serial number of the system on system hardware it is listed there. This is the easy and only way. Now if the system is few hundred miles from where you are do the lscfg -vp command and out put to the file and you have to look thru this file. Where you find system information is where you will find system cpu info. I hope this helps.

lsattr -El sys0 | grep systemid

returns something like:

systemid IBM,01XXXXXXXX Hardware system identifier False

Where XXXXXXXX can be numbers or letters. Strip away the 'IBM,01'. What's left is your serial number. May not be valid for all RS/6000's (definately not MCA machines) but all of my servers are in the same same family as the H70.

lscfg -vp | grep Cabinet
or
lscfg -vp
shows all your inventory tto be printed out
