Hi All

Has any body come across YYYYYY's being displayed on a serial console.
Machine is a p520, oslevel AIX5.2 maint-level 6.

This screen was working fine until a system shutdown, it displays startup info correctly and initial login but then just shows the YYY's.
You cannot then use the screen.
I know it's not the screen itself as i've swapped this and still get the same problem.
Console speed set to 19200bps.

Your baud rate for that console is set up wrong - either change the baud rate to match the terminal - I believe the default terminal baud rate is 9600 - or change through smitty chgtty - to match the terminal's 9600. The default smit value - I believe is 19200.

Thanks for that but, terminal speed changed to 19200bps and console speed on p520 is set at 19200bps as default.

I believe 19200 is correct for p5
Try booting to SMS and configuring the console
Then exit SMS and it might ask you to select the consloe again as AIX takes over from the firmware
Bobs your uncle
