Ok, this is probably a dumb questions, but bear with the dummy asking it... I am trying to create a report for Maximo v5.2 using Actuate v7, in this report I need to use a sequential section. How exactly do I go about doing that? I placed the sequential section in my report, added a report section to it and put in some data, but when I try to run the report it says that no data is availale. I know it is not my data source. Is there something I have to do to "activate" the sequential section? Are there any additional settings I need to change, or is it as simple as just placing the report sections inside the sequential section and pressing on as usual? Thank for any help you all might be able to provide!!!

first question is how do you know you need a sequential section?

What are you trying to write a report about? e.g. pm listing, open work order report etc?

so are you using one of the maximo templates? You'll have a new report app, a report section etc. Now what?

Remember, not only will you need the connection stream, but also a datastream and datarow for each sequential section. If you have put only one datastream and row in, it will fall over.

I am trying to create a report that shows all the PMs for the year, but I want it broken down by craft. Since there does not seem to be a way in the PM app to assign a Lead Craft I thought that the best way would be to have each craft be it's own report. Instead of having individual reports for each craft, though, I thought it would be easier to use the Sequential Section. Am I right by going about it this way? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

I think I am on the right track, sort of. I can get the report to display data, but it is only the information from the first Report Section, it keeps looping though. Spitting out hundreds of pages of the same data over and over again.

...stupid computer. Well, stupid report designer that doesn't know what he is doing!!! [banghead]

Some questions.
As I work in Engineering, PM means nothing to me unless its Project Management, so what is PM?

By Craft, do you mean Trade?

However, Have you tried Grouping by the Craft field in a single report, and forget the Sequential Sections?

Post back exactly what you are trying to achieve, and we may be able to help you better.

Are you trying to creat a Look-ahead report, or are you looking at all the PMs (Preventative Maintenance workorders) that are historical?

Do you have attached Job plans in the PMs?

Is the craft listed in the JPs?

IvySkye, is on it the jobplan should have a reference to the craft. The field\column is jobplan.laborcode

Thanks for all the help folks. I have abandoned my quest for using the Sequential Section. I used the Lead Craft in the job plan, grouped it by that. That was a lot easier. Thanks again everyone!
