Good morning everyone,

Glad to be part of a great forum. I'm a Notes designer, not much experience with Sys Admin/Programming. I can't seem to word my formulas to work the way I want them to.

Need help! I need a formula that will automatically change my "control number" field, sequentially, each time I create a new form.

Need another formula - I do not want two different Authors, of a form, to be able to use the same "business number". What would be the formula for this?

Can anyone help me? Then again, does anyone know what I'm trying to say?

Appreciate help - asap!

Hi,

1. Sequentional numbers are a bit difficult to create in Lotus Notes. However, there are serveral solutions.

If you can disable replication of the database so all the users will create new documents on the server, you can use a special view, from which you get the last number every time you (or someone else) create new document.

If you enable creating new docs in replicas, the first solution will not work. But if it doesò't metter, you can give number to the documents later by an agent.
For example - user creates new doc in replica, no number is given to this document. On server is an agent enabled, which runs when a new document is saved to server database. This agent do the same as in the first solution - searches for the last number in database and the new document will get the next number.

If this idea isn't enough for you and you will some source codes, fill free to write me.

2. if I understand to the second problem, you want to have a "business number" different to each user. If is it so, simply use user profile document. Check @Commands (EditProfile) and @Functions (GetProfileField,SetProfileField).

I hope this will help you
