Separate Internew Mail Service from Information Store?

Hi, there:

I have an exchange5.5 box. Boss want me to add another exchange server and move Internet Mail Service to this new server, is this the best pratice? How to set up two exchange server and use on of them as a gateway?

yes...it is best practice. It is always a good idea to keep user stores seperate from hubs and mailing gateways. THis enables you to make changes/maintenance without affecting any of the users

As for how to do it, install the new server in the same site (using the same service account). Install the IMS on the new server. Replication will take care of the rest.
