I was wondering if someone can help me with this.

When you telnet to port 25 on an AIX machine running Sendmail, the default greeting message includes the Sendmail version number. I'd like to remove the version information number from the greeting string. How can I go about doing this?

It is defined in the /etc/sendmail.cf file, look for an entry which describes the welcome/login banner.

Sorry, cannot remember the exact wording right now, but I can have a quick look on Monday and post the exact bit for you. IBM Certified Confused - MQSeries
IBM Certified Flabbergasted - AIX 5 pSeries System Administration

# SMTP initial login message (old $e macro)
O SmtpGreetingMessage=$j Sendmail $v/$Z; $b

Thanks for the info .... this should really help me with what I'm doing [bigcheeks]
