I have a SCO Unix box that is routing it's sendmail through a corporate exchange server. This is working fine, however when the email come through it has our old computer name on it from a coulple of years ago. I have searched every file I know of to see where sendmail would be picking this name up from.

/usr/lib/sendmail.cf
/etc/systemid
/etc/hosts
/etc/resolve.conf
/etc/lmhosts

I am sure someone out there knows where it is picking this name up from. I do a hostname lookup it comes up with the correct name. I have two other SCO boxes that are working fine with the same configuration. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

There are two places that i can think of;

check your local dns config ( in the /etc/resolv.conf )
I have seen on my machine where it gets the domain from here ( under the domain xxx.com setting )

Otherwise, run the 'scoadmin sendmail' command to configure the sendmail. there is a domain entry there that you can set within the menu, then run the Generate sendmail to make the changes active.
but i would only change this if its says it is wrong, so check first, from the 'review config info' menu option first.

I have already tried both of those options Ukwizard, but I put mutt on as a mail client and for some reason it stopped. Thanks anyway

could it be stored in memory? perhaps stop and restart sendmail?

In case you want to use another mail client which brings back your original problem, try editing:

/usr/mmdf/mmdftailor

The SCO version of Sendmail actually uses this file, despite the mmdf in the name!

eg:

;
; Fake mmdftailor file for use with sendmail. This file
; tells the user agents where to look for mail.
;
MLNAME oldmach
MLDOMAIN yourcomp.com
MDLVRDIR "/usr/spool/mail"
MMBXNAME ""
MMBXPROT 0600
