sendmail send to MYDOMAIN, but not to any other domain

I have setup sendmail on Fedora Core2.
Pretty much the same as RH9, which I run on another drive.
I can sedn email to USERS@MY_DOMAIN, but I cannot send email to USERS@ANY_OTHER_DOMAIN.

I can also send email to USERS@MY_DOMAIN from USERS@ANY_OTHER_DOMAIN, but again the problem is I cannnot send email to the outside world.

I see no errors in my /var/log/maillog file.

I'm really confused as to what the heck camel@test.homedns.org is...I don't have a local user accoutn named camel on my system.
Regardless. It appears the sendmail just times out trying to send the email. In Evolution email client, the email goes out and into the Sent Items folder, but it never gets delivered to the Outside world. After 4 houtrs, I get a MAILER_DAEMON email stating it failed to send after 4 hours of inactivity.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Is mail.fauxpas.org machine online 24/7? Try "telnet mail.fauxpas.org 25". Or try send email to other domain.

Have you check your firewall for outgoing rule?

Can you browse internet using fedora machine?

1. Yes, but I cannot telnet to that server. I get the same results when I try to email to ANY outside email address.

2. Yes, I actually have firewall disabled.

3. Yes I can browse internet. I am on the machine right now typing this message.

I can also setup the email account on my Windows machine in Outlook Express. I can send/receive loopback emails to myself all day long. Just nothing to any outside email addresses.

Ok it looks like I have discovered something.
It appears the domains I am trying to send email are identifying the email as Spam. Now to figure out why...
I am using a Dynamic DNS service for my DNS...hmmm

How did you know that your domain consider spam? Did you get your message back? From which smtp server, your own or others?

I got an email from my Mail srever on that other domain saying a Bulk mail fodler was created. I went to my online webmail and sure enough, there was the email in the bulk mail folder. It identified it as spam.

Well, looks like nothing seems to be working now. Can't send or receive any email . In all my play time I have managed to mess something up...oh well, back to square one. [sarchasm]Ahh, linux is so forgiving...[/sarchasm]

You can put your domain name in whitelist spam list. It wont consider as spam. If you are using online spam list, then get them to clear off your domain name.

Still no go..OK let's recap.

At this moment. I can send email to the user@other_domain and it is NOT getting blocked anymore.
However, NOW I cannot send email to webmaster@MY_DOMAIN anymore. And I Still cannot send to user@ANY_OTHER_DOMAINS..only the user@other_domain can I send to.

this is ridiculous...
is sendmail that friggin stupid? or am I..I'm guessing the latter...

Paste me your sendmail.cf and relay-domains under /etc/mail.

What did you do to your config file? First it was failed, now it was working. Paste me /var/log/maillog file since you said you couldnt send email to webmaster anymore. Did you check your aliases file? OR you have webmaster account created?

Ok..I'm back after a few days of pulling my hair out.

I have got this far.
I can send email to users@MY_DOMAIN but I cannot send email to users@ANY_OTHER_DOMAIN.

Hi,

You are using smarthost, where you relay all your mails to areamike.homedns.org. So areamike.homedns.org machine will handle all your external/internal mail. From the log, that error mean you couldnt reach the other mail server because of timeout. Can you try "telnet other_mail_server 25" from areamike machine?

I think I may have discovered the/a problem. My ISP blocks me from sending mail on outgoing port 25 UNLESS I use their mailservers.

I'll have to work around that.
