I am installing a virus protection software (trendmicro's virus wall).

Before sendmail secured...Open Relay denied.

After:
Trendmicro uses it's own mail program and has it's own anti-relay feature. Whereas before I could do any number of on-line tests to veriy my server was not Open Relay, after installying trendmicro, the configuration appears to be correct, however the online checkers (abuse.net ...etc) state my server is not open relay.

How can this be? Any quick immediate way of verifying open relay or not?

Thanks,

Trendmicro Viruswall's antirelay option sucks..

I recommend u use a MTA to receive/check spam/ the mail first.. After, use the TrendMicro to check viruses.

some like that:
check spam
yahoo.com --email to u server --> ||sendmail MTA.||
|
yes | no Virus Check
drop ___/\___ ||Trend MTA
|
yes|No
|
Clean______|____ Mail
Delivery

The first sendmail MTA works on port 25.. it check if its spam.. If not spam, then, deliver the mail to another port (port of Trend MTA). Trendmicro MTA check if have viruses.. if have virus, make a clean. If its cleaned, its delivered. If not have viruses, then its delivered.

rsevilla,

Thanks for the tip....I have figured it out. I was getting the outbound and inbound ACLs mixed up. I am still not ready to configure the spam option. But I'll get there.

Another quick one...I am trying to figure out more information about how to configure the advanced options (solution 11261 was not entirely helpful).
What is a pre-spawn process?
How do I determine the maximun # of child processes...What system resource to I measure...What is the correlation between the system resource and how many child processes I need? I run about 2000 to 3000 emails per week.

Thanks for your help.
