Hi all

I have a bit of a problem that I hope someone can help me with!

Im new to Exchange, but as I have more computing knowledge than everyone else here I have been assigned to try and sort this out!

We use around 30 thin client terminals connected to our network, and have no standalone workstations. We are using Exchange 2000 SP1 (SP3 has been downloaded but not yet installed)

We have recently added 2 new users to our domain and setup email accounts in Exchange, however these 2 users cannot send or recieve external email. Internal is fine. All other users also have no problems with external mail.

Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this and how I could solve it??!

Thanks.

do they have a correct smtp address?
through outlook on a client open the GAL
pick a newly created user and select properties
go to the tab on the far right that says emailadresses
one of them should be SMTP:something@domain.com
that's the email address used

if this isn't the case you should update or recreate your recipient update policy to have the newly created users auto-generate their emailaddress

you also might check delivery restrictions
(ad users and computers, properties of those new users, exchange general, delivery restrictions)
should accept from everyone

hope this provides any help

/Bart

Thanks for the suggestions, but everything there is as it should be.

Anyone else have any ideas??

what is the NDR external people are receiving?

Sorry about the delay before responding!

This is going to make me seema bit dumb, but what the hell; Whats the NDR??
As far as I'm aware people arent getting anysort of message.

I've now had other users say that they havent recieved mail that they know has been sent, as well as some who say it has been delayed quite a while. For other users there are still no problems.

I have tried sending test emails from different accounts and havent seen any problems myself.

Could this be a problem with the mail server of our ISP??

no sweat ;-) :NDR= non delivery report

if you suspect your isp just give them a call and have them check it from their point of view (so you can eliminate that path)

example of some report
