Hi can someone help,
I'm sending some artwork to my printers as a pdf file. I have created it in illustrator 10 and it has crop marks and a 3mm bleed. When the printer opens it he cannot see the crop marks or bleed. Aparently I have to get the separation setup dialogue box up and load a ppd, which I have done. It looks like if fits fine in the preview box but when I hit okay it says that the ppd of my printer and the general ppd in my software dont match and I might lose some of the image. I have an HP 6840 inkjet printer. I don't know what to do next. There must be a way of sending my artwork without my printer being an issue. Also there are 2 ppd files in my utilities file, which do I use.

Thanks

Lucy

...what size is your artboard in illustrator? is the media size in the print setup larger than this?

Andrew

...are you able to save the pdf in the export options instead of printing to pdf?

Andrew

...if you have acrobat standard or pro installed you can print to pdf via this route as an alternative.

Thanks for your help.
I can't export. It won't give me a pdf option. The media is too big in portrait but fits fine landscape. The thing is is its as if I'm sending it to a postscript printer that I dont have. All I want to to is get it to the printers in a pdf format with a bleed and crop marks. So that when they open it their end they can see them.

Cheers

Even if I alter my artbox size to the bleed size and save it still wont see blled or crops

...the pdf option is in the save as dialogue box from what i recall from illustrator 10...

...there should be an option in your print setup to 'save to file' instead of printing to a device in windows, you will probably need to setup a postscript printer to print to file, details can be found here:

Thanks Andrew for your help. I spoke to my printers this am and they have come up with a solution by changing everything to outlines and saving as an ai file and this seems to work.
Thanks again
