Has anyone tried sending Names over PRI in IP office? My vendor is saying it is not possible...however the carrier says it has to come from the switch!!
If yes can you post some info.thanks

The only time I have seen this work is when the Carrier associates a list of names you supply them with the DDI's you send out, so you are not actually sending the name it's done in the exchange.

try ading S<name> to the end of your short codes
I have used it succesfully on internal calls but do not know if it would work on a T1 (im in the UK)

As far as i know in the us it may be against the law for the CPE to control the name. I think it has to do with 911 but not sure.

When an originating phone switch sends out a phone number as caller ID, the telephone company receiving the call is responsible for looking up the name of the subscriber in a database. Additionally, nothing ensures that the number sent by a switch is the actual number where the call originated.

If the PBX would send out the "calling party name" it would be the responsibility of destination CO to replace that piece of IE with the information contained in their database.

sounds good, but I have a SIP line and I connected a one-x quick edition phone to it, when I call it shows my extension name on the caller ID which means the provider sends out my name that they get through SIP to wherever I call. I am not sure what my line provider has on hardware but I know they have T1 connections to the PSTN from Primus
