i get this error

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'zohermakawi@yahoo.com'. Subject 'Re: HUMBLE ASSISTANCE', Account: 'pop.west.cox.net', Server: 'smtp.west.cox.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 relaying mail to yahoo.com is not allowed', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Not a server error i contacted my ISP they told me it was a IE problem and I'm trying to find out how to fix this in windows XP.

This is simplistic, but I have had a simple reboot fix that problem. It seems to be a corruption of some sort in Outlook...?

The return message says you are attempting a mail relay which is not being allowed by your ISP. It states you are trying to use yahoo.com as the outbound mail server which I am sure you ISP will not allow. Do you have the correct outgoing mail server configured for your mail account with your ISP?

The incoming and outgoing server don't need to be the same for your mail account if you are using different ISP's. The outgoing server has to be the server for your ISP you are connected with and not just the mail account. joegz

I have been useing this same setup for e-mail for months and last week it started this. I can logg on to the web mail for my ISP and send mail fine, i can recieve mail fine but I can not send mail. Ive tried looking for patches for OE but there arent any out and my ISP says it is not a configuration error. I was hopeing some of you could figure out the problem.

Well i messed that post up. ii meant to say if i use remote mail i can send and recieve mail fine. But if i use outlook express i cant send but can recieve i hope this is explaining the problem right. I cant think clearly as im military and deployed to the middle east and do real word ops all night leaving only a few hours to sleep and check my e-mail. thank you for any help

Who is your ISP and what smtp server are you using in your OE setup?

Chris.

OE is fine. It's not a problem with your software.

Mail relay is not being allowed by your ISP as previously mentioned. You can tell this because of the fact that you can receive but can't send mail. You can receive mail from any internet connection but can only sent using the ISP mail server.

Your provider may have made a change and no longer allows mail relay if it used to work. Tell us what ISP is providing your connection (not just hosting the mail account) and we can tell what server you should list. joegz
