Hi

We have two email servers, one in New York and one in Switzerland. We have an MPLS WAN connection that links all our sites. Each site also has its own internet connection.

When our internet goes down at one site we can still get email as our ISP redirects email to the other site, however on the site that has the internet failure mail just sits in the queue waiting for the internet to come back. As we have MPLS we would like it to realise that the internet has failed and then forward mail to the other site and send it from that site instead.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm.

Is each server sending mail out independently normally or are you using one as the outbound gateway?

Perhaps a 2nd SMTP connector on each site with a higher cost than the normal one pointing to the other XC server as Smart Host?

No idea if it would work but something to look at.

Hi thanks for ur reply.

Yes each server sends out mail independantly.

I will try this and update you.

Please bear in mind that was a just after lunch answer so no guarantees. :)
