Sending Door Phone Short Codes 1

Hi all,


I have a customer that has an old NEC 2400 I am replacing. I was trying to make a couple thing work the same if possible. They have a Siedle Door phone system and currently can press a DSS key (feature key)to unlock the door while simultaneously talking to the customer at the door. Is this possible on the IPO? If so is there anymore programming to it other than a dial feature and the code on the button?

Depending on the Siedle system you can connect a relais output from IP Office to the Siedle and program a button for the relais to latch for 5 seconds to open the door.
This can be done during a conversation without interruption.

Never use Dial on button programming unless it is for an external number it is the wrong way to activate features!

there are features specific to this operation that can be programmed on the button (Relay on, Relay off & relay Pulse).

@IPGuru, the Siedle is a analog doorphone system were you must sent DTMF to open the door (#64 if I remember well).
The only way to send the DTMF using a button is the Dial feature, unless you have a better way to send DTMF and prove me I am doing it wrong for years now!

What kind of unit is the relais? I have never used one.

Fair enough I thought the OP was trying to use the IPO relays.

it was just I see a lot of systems installed by other people where they have buttons programmed to Dail a system short-code instead of using the feature directly & the user wonders why things don't work very well (i have even seem some systems where this was used for DSS keys!)

Yes you can send DTMF while talking, this is normal behavior.
