Sending data from one related entity to one parent entity

Hi,

I am trying to send data from one field in a related entity to its parent entity.

For example The entity "Opportunity" is connected to an entity called "Time spent". One opportunity can have many "Time spent" forms related to it.

I have created a one to many relationship and mapped some of the attributes, but what i really need is that when i fill one field in the "Time spent" entity it gets automatically added/updated into a same field previously created in the "Opportunity" entity that is related to it,

Will a workflow work?

Have it update with that value once it is saved etc...
