Is it possible to send an automatic message back to blocked emailers in exchange 2000? If so, how would I do it. I already applied the email addresses to be blocked in the IP filtering options, and enabled it under SMTP options.

Example:
Your email address has been blocked due to..... etc....

Thanks.

Out of curiosity, why would you want to do this?

We have a few former customers that have been harassing our employees, so we are going to block their email addresses. In case they are too stupid to realize that they are being blocked, we wanted to attach a message informing them that they are.

I'd intercept the emails and let these customer's bosses know about what they are doing, as well as notify authorities depending upon the content of the messages.

The last thing I would do is waste my system resources on having my server respond to emails such as this.

Sometimes it's not the question that's most important, but rather the reason for the question. In this case, even if it is possible, what I'm saying is it's the wrong solution to the wrong question.

I understand that you have your own opinions, as do I, however that was not the purpose of my question. If I was asking for your opinion, I would have stated that in my original post.

Thanks.

I'm sorry that you are so close minded.

Good luck with what you're trying to do, be it the proper solution or not, you are determined to do it your way regardless of anything else.

Everyone has their own way of doing things.

josh0227, unfortunately I am not aware of a way to do this. You could send one e-mail to the blocked accounts informing them that a filter has been enforced, but I am sure you have already considered that.

Russell.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

workaround :

Unblock the senders on exchange, then you can set up a rule on each of the affected recipients' outlook clients to send a reply from a template and automatically delete the incoming at the same time

(Outlook / tools / rules wizard)

Hope this helps ?
