We have a need to send calls to voicemail that go into a 5 digit agent
ID to a 4 digit voicemail box in a Intuity Audix. We have supervisors
who use 4 digit DID's and all our our agents are now using 5 digit ACD
logon ID's, but some need voicemail. We want to avoid using VDNs &
Vectors because we need to keep those resevered for call routing from
customers. Has anyone encountered this and what are some possible
solutions? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have Modular Messaging, so I don't know if this applies to you, but...

I can create a mailbox xxxx and use yyyyy as a secondary extension for that mailbox. This will route calls to extension yyyyy into mailbox xxxx.

Again, I'm not sure if Audix has something similar to secondary extension or not.

Hope this helps.

The seconday extension in Audix is strictly for incoming fax. Calls routed to the secondary extension (via coverage path on station form) are answered "Fax Extension For (Name)" and initiates fax tone. Not a viable option - but a good idea! - in this case.

Since Audix extensions are set in their length (either four- or five-digit) you don't have the option of using both, meaning you can't have Audix subscriber 2525 and 23030 on the same system.

Any chance a combination of x-ported (or virtual) stations and coverage paths can do the trick with an aut-msg-wt light for the destination voicemail box?

I think that would work....would that entail building individual coverage paths for each Agent.

Here is what I am picturing in my head:
Agent 50093 goes to covegage path, say 93, coverage path has as, say Exported St 1367 with a coverage path that goes to voicemail......Am I think along the right line?

I think you may run into double-coverage issue there. It's worth a try, though...but as I think of it my mind is telling me "Danger, Will Robinson".

I tried it and it wouldn't work....thanks....back to the drawing board.

I don't think the double coverage path will work for you. I've been trying to set it up on my system. How many agents need voice mail?

About 10 to 15.

You can have multiple mailbox extension lengths in Intuity R-4/R-5, just like multiple DN range lengths in a Definity. If you need 5 digit mail boxes then you must set your (max) mailbox length to 5 digits and then add your DN ranges with no overlap, in the system settings. If you have a 5-digit setup, then you can have mailboxs from single digits to 5 digits if you wish, as long as they don't conflict.
There is a considerable amount of programming involved, so you will need to crack the books to do it. Too many things to post here.
If you attempt it, make sure you have a good backup to restore from in case you do an oopsie!

We issued 4 digit logins to our agents that needed to have voicemail attached to their login.

I like that suggestion! Since you can't have multiple-length audix mailbox extensions, simply make the agent match the audix scenario. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most evasive. Touche`, phonepd!

Thanks.....sometimes the simplest solutions are avoided by Business that has a need to make things extra complicated!

That is what we are doing for now....but want to have a way to get 5 to 4.....one suggestion was to try to strip a digit....
