We are using ISDN Pub Unknown tables to cause a range of extensions to appear in the public network as a Toll-Free number (TFN). We do this to allow the called party to call us back at no charge. Problem: When they see the TFN, many think it to be a solicitor and they ignore the call. We wish to send our company name AND the TFN. Our LD carrier says that we, the customer are not allowed to pass a Caller ID Name. Name is a terminating feature. When the call reaches it's destination C.O. the name gets looked up in that companies STP database.

The million dollar question is this: how can we with an S87XX and CM4 (soon to be 5), using ISDN-PRI trunks, pass both our company name (which should be associated with the account information on the trunks) and the number that we program in the Pub Unknown tables?

I know there are companies doing this....

I know there must be someone out there with the answer to this one. I would name my next grand child after you if you could whip this for us.

They only thing you can control with the PBX is the number you want displayed. When our company was bought out, I contacted our LEC (Time Warner Telecom) and they changed our company's name in the "database".

The name that is displayed is associated with the CNAM field in the Targus (billing) database and as you've been told is sent out to the recipient from the far end switch, not from your PBX. You will want to verify you have a company name associated not just with your T1s but also with your DIDs, even though you are displaying a TFN their system will be looking up the BTN or Stn ID that is being sent on your outbound call. We had the same issue and it turned out that our DIDs didn't have the company name in the CNAM field. Place your test calls to a "friendly" and have them open the ticket on their phone #.
