This is the case: User has exchange mailbox with alias address A and alias address B. The default address is A but from time to time he wants to send mails as alias address B. We us exchange 2003 and outlook 2003. Is this possible. For now I'm getting a mesage that I'm not allowed to send this message.

Tnx.

Does alias B have the same domain name?

eg.

john.smith@companya.com

alias :

john.smith@companyb.com

Or

john.smith@companya.com

alias

Itdirector@companya.com

?????

Remove the alias from the smtp of the user.
Create a new mailbox for addressb.
Grant Send As permissions on addressb for userA.

In Outlook on userA, choose View, From field. Normally they ignore it but when they want to Send As, they put UserB in the From box.

@Zelandakh
If we do this, e-mails will be received in to different boxes which is not the way it was ment to be.

@Helenp1983
The 2 aliases have the same domain name.

Then you can't do this with Exchange as it stands. There are third party products available to do this though.

Ok.
Thanks for the info.

You can add a POP3 e-mail account to your profile that has the receiving disabled. Then enter you exchange as the SMTP server and the alias address as the sender. That way you can choose the sender address when sending the message. Be sure to disabled the POP3 from receiving mail.

Hi,

Sorry for what might be a stupid question, but is there a procedure for disabling POP3 receive? Is it something that you do on Exchange, in AD, or in Outlook 2003? Could you provide some insight or details?

Thanks...
