send email on clicking a button inside excel 1

Hello,
We have an excel file sitting on a shared drive where the problems are logged by the users. Is there any way that the users can click a button and an email is sent to one particular person with 'check the status' as the subject ?
any advise will be appreciated.

The good news: you can do this.

But it is going to require VBA (a macro), so please repost your question in forum707.

Mirage10, John - you don't need VBA.

1. Within Excel, create an object (a square or whatever shape you desire).

2. Add text such as "Click here to send email"

3. Click the object once so the object is selected (not the text)

4. Right click and select "Hyperlink"

5. On the left hand panel of the pop up select "Email Address"

6. Add the email address in the field with the subject as desired (e.g. "Check the Status" are you have stated)

7. Click on OK, and then when you mouse over the text, it should turn into a little hand which when clicked should create an email with the recipient's name and subject as you entered it in "6" above. All the person would then need to do is send the email.

8. Done. Go get a coffee.

Thanks Hasit, this is good for now- but for long term what we are looking for is -as he clicks on the link the email should go automatically without the user having to click on send button again.

OK - well, in that case, you will need VBA (mia culpe!)
