I always do this:
Short Code: #XXX
Number: #N
Feature: Voicemail Collect
This assumes 3 digit extensions. Voicemail Pro sees # as a command to deposit voicemail, so after setting up this short code - you can transfer direct to voicemail by pressing Transfer # extension Transfer.

The shortcode of Melmac does work but is not guaranteed in future releases because officially calls are routed to VM using the name of the user instead of the number.
