Hello,

In a DOS console window Windows 2000 would allow me to use the mouse to select text from the screen easily. In Windows XP I must Right-Click and select "Mark" first.

How can I make this operation behave like Windows 2000?

Note: I know this seems minor but when you need to do this dozens of time a day it becomes more than a minor annoyance.

Thanks,

At the top left of the DOS box is a small iconic C:> symbol.

Mark the text, then while highlighted right-click that iconic symbol and select Edit, Copy.

Right click on the top left corner of a command prompt. Click on "defaults". Then go to the "options" tab. Under "edit options", check "QuickEdit Mode". I do a lot of work in the command window, too. You can also change the same setting for individual command prompt icons, but defaults will set the default so you get it anytime you do "start" "run" "cmd".
I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Tom
