Julie,
I posted this in your other message.
I think CarlAK meant your acad.pgp file. It should be located in your support subdirectory immediately below your autocad subdirectory. It is a small file so if you wanted you could print it and keep it for future reference if you wanted to add or change your shortcut keys. It can be edited in notepad just remember not to change the file extension when you save it after editing. You might make a copy of it and rename it to acadbupgp.pgp so you have an extra copy just for safety.
I am not familiar with the select shape file problem though, it sound like something has been changed or deleted. I just did a search in my autocad directory for *.shp files and came up with two gdt.shp and ltypeshp.shp. You might do a search and if you cannot find them see if any one else has them available to copy. Are the files that are causing the error message files that you have used before on the same machine? You might look up "creating shape files" in the help. If you cannot find them you may have to do a installation fix, unless someone else has a better idea. I'll see if I can find out more as time permits.
Hope this helps,
Joe

Julie,
I just went to my autocad help and after clicking on the search tab I enterd "shape" and the fourth entry from the top (ranked 4) in the customization guide it had a chapter entittled "Shapes, Fonts, and PostScript Support" when I clicked on this it had the following four chapters:
use shape files
Compile shape/font files
Create shape definition files
PostScript Support
I guess this is where you'll have to go if no else can help.
That's the best I can do at this time.
Joe
