We have been using our current database for several years and suddenly yesterday, we began encountering an error when trying to select a group of records to copy and paste to a spreadsheet.

The process is: We use a form to query a large data table and choose records that meet certain criteria. After completing the query, the results are displayed in a table named "Answer.db". We then click on "Edit-Select All", then "Edit-Copy" to choose and copy all of the records to the clipboard. From the clipboard, the records will be pasted into a spread sheet.

The first time you open Paradox, the "Select All" will work correctly. From that point on, it will only select the number of records which were originally selected.

Ex. - the 1st query yields 6 records. You can do "Select All" and all 6 will be chosen. The next time you run the query, if you have 10 records, only the first 6 will be chosen.

This has worked correctly for several years until yesterday. We are running Paradox 8. When we encountered this problem, we went back and tried it on Paradox 7 which is still installed and had the same error.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM BOBBYH

We just realized that after running the first query, the answer table will not change the results sometimes. This occurs even though the answer table has been closed (we have found this situation to occur when leaving the answer table open before doing a new query, but now we are careful to be sure it is closed).

Also, when running a new query, the answer table will open initially and when you try to scroll down through the table, it will trash the table. You can only see some lines across the answer table which are very close together and no data is visible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you tried to rename or move the answer table before using it?

It sounds like your database is corrupt and is returning trash data to the answer table. Try using the table repair utility on your database tables to verify their stability.
