I have a Merlin-like phone (Merlin ATL type handset, similar phone design, etc.) but it is not a "system" phone but a stand-alone phone for general use. It has 9 flat buttons (like the standard Merlin membrane phones) for speed dial memory (each button has a "shift" location, too, for another speed dial) and several other flat buttons for setting the time, date, delayed ring, etc., for the display, which shows the time and date and then number dialed (no caller-id). It also uses AA batteries for the display and speed dial. Anyway, does anyone know the model of this phone?? I got it off eBay and have never seen another one like it and don't know the model. The sticker on the bottom is rubbed off. Any ideas?

from the way you have descrided this set it could be a 8110 with flash, redail, hold, speaker and mute. or a 8102 with flash, redial, and hold. dennis 42

No, I don't think it's that series. It looks alot like the ATL phones or the older Definity phones that had the Merlin ATL look. At the bottom is has a speaker button (no mic) on the right and a disconnect button on the left, all flat like the membrane phones. The other buttons are like "shift", "program", "pause", "display", and some others. The keypad is like a Merlin ATL keypad. My phone is brown in color but I'm assuming they came in black, too. It was designed as a desk phone for a home office application with no connections to a system. The front of the phone has no model numbers are markings on it.

The bottom as in the underside of the phone? It has an attachable/removeable base similar to the merlin/older definity phones. The handset cord connects under the front (like some of the ATL phones). The guy I bought it from said he purchased it from an AT&T phone store in his local mall back in the late 80's, early 90's for his office at home. It's a good, solid phone and everything still works. I am just curious as to what model it is. There are no "lights" by any of the buttons, as there would be on Merlin ATL's or Definity's. It has labels you can slip under the top cover to label the speed dial buttons. I haven't seen another one on the Net anywhere, but then again I don't know what model to put in to try and find info about it.

Well, it isn't the 7103A but by using those documents you linked me to (thanks!) I found that it is actually the 7104A terminal (the one described after the 7103A). Mine is the chocolate brown color. I guess it was designed for that system but it works fine as a stand alone phone on a regular residential line, because I have it connected that way. Thank you for your efforts! Now I know!
