For a project on the culture of early to mid-19th-century New England (focusing on spirituals, quilts), I'm in search of fonts (in all categories--serif, non-serif, calligraphic) that replicate typefaces of the period.

I'm mainly interested in for display or title fonts.

Where should I look? What kind of fonts would fit the picture?

Many thanks!

Hi,

The best place to search for fonts and topics like that are on
You will want serif fonts I would imagine, as back in that period many typefaces tended to be a script typeface (ie - calligraphy)

Hope this helps!

I've searched Google before and gotten mainly results for sites where you have to BUY the fonts. I haven't found any really GOOD font sites in Google for a long time. If you have access to Corel 8, copy the fonts from it. It has more fonts easily accessible than any other place I've been able to find.

Thanks!
