A "customer" wants to install 50(1-Voice,2 Data\Cat5e)locations within an existing office location, which will be routed through cubicals, and installed in various wall locations. This is an upgrade from a lesser structured cabling system, and will include old cabling tear-out.Pathways will be located in drop ceiling, some areas will be Plenum. All runs will be below 295.Any suggestions, tips, procedures would be appreciated.

new customer or old

if new customer try to get up in the ceilings and look for firwalls , and other obstructions that can add labor $$$

If you have one use a digital camera and take detailed pictures along with measured drawings I find this helpfull when trying to envision labor bottlenecks

since is a upgrade and you are removing old how will this be accomplished ?

in sections ? over a long weekend ?

be sure to figure overtime if applicable

its late and Im rambling a bit but I hope this helps

For the demo, is the customer providing the dumpster or are the expecting you to charge for that in your quote?

Skip has some good advice. Look at everything closely before hand. See if the cables that you are pulling out are installed correctly. If they are you can use some of them as a pull string and save you labor time. If not you may have to install some firesleeves and fire putty for your new installs. If the old cables are not installed correctly, do they want you to fix the old holes in firewalls, smoke walls.

One more thing that might help you. I use all P&S ( Pass & Seymour jacks). They make furniture bezels that make it easy to install cabling in modular furniture. Some of the cheaper furniture doesn't have knockouts for these bezels. You can use surface monuted boxes for this. Include this in your cost estimate.

If you find any mistakes, please consider that they are there for a purpose. And everyone needs a purpose.
