I'm looking to start my Security+ studying. I have the Sybex 1st edition and noticed there is a 2nd edition available.

In your opinion, will the 1st edition suffice to provide valid info for the SYO-101 exam? Or is it worth the $$ to get the 2nd edition?

Thank you.

michigan,

i purchased the sybex security+ hard back book a few months ago, and can't find anything about 1st or 2nd edition. the copy i bought was published in 2003.

i guess i'd recommend the 2nd edition, if you have a choice. it should be more up to date.

i just signed up for the security+ exam and i'm taking it next saturday.

I had mistakenly bought the first version.

But it was quite good, cannot compare it to 2nd as I have not read it. But chances are the 2nd will have more updated info.

As schase has recently become Security +, I would say that the 1st edition might be good, but beware, as schase has stated in his "I passed forum", he used a lot more than the Sybex book to study....
