PAUL79,

I need a bit more info, but let me suggest some basics here first:

1.) Ensure that the drive letter for the CD Burner drive is shared, by double-clicking the "My Computer" icon, and then right-clicking the drive letter for the CD Burner. Then choose "Sharing" from the drop-down list.
2.) By sharing the drive letter, the "Everyone" group automatically gets a permission of "Full Control" to the drive.
3.) Ensure that you are logged on as the Administrator, and re-run the "NERO" software setup...pay close attention to the choices during setup, because it may offer to install the software for "just this account", and offer to install it for "all accounts" as a second choice.
4.) If the NERO setup doesn't offer this option, then I think it's safe to assume that each local account will have access to run the software.
5.) If not, right-click the "My Computer" icon, and choose "Manage".
6.) Go down to "Users and Groups", and highlight "Groups".
7.) In the right hand pane, double-click "Administrators".
8.) This shows a list of accounts that have "Administrative" rights...if the account you want to have access is not listed here, cick "Add", and select the account from the list to add it.
9.) Log on as the account you just added to the Administrator's group, and try the NERO burner software again.
10.) Did that work?

Paul79,
I am assuming you want to give burn rights to a member of the "users" group. I had this same issue with Nero 5.5.8.2. I did alot of research and could not find a Windows 2000 resolution. I e-mailed Nero tech support and received a fix after waiting about a week. You are going to need three files NeroSecurity.inf, NeroSecurityUninstall.inf and NeroSVC.exe. There is also a readme file, part of which follows:
A. How to allow users without admin rights can burn under NERO

1. Copy the following files in the Nero folder:
- NeroSVC.exe
- NeroSecurityUninstall.inf

2. run the command

NeroSVC -service <group>

in a console window. <group> is the name of an existing user group,
where people with burn permission are members.

Note:
If you want to grant access to all users without any modification
of your accounts and groups, use the group called 'Users' on English systems or
'Benutzer' on German ones.
The end result is a service that will be set to start automatically with Windows. If you want the files you can either e-mail Nero (Ahead Software Tech. Supp.) and wait or I could e-mail them to you.
