I don't know how it happened, but I've got a user on our network domain who no longer has write permission on some of his subfolders in My Documents. The root folder is located on the Windows 2000 server and has the correct security permissions to grant full control to the user and the administrator (me). The user can still write documents to this root folder as expected.
Now, the problem lies in some of the subfolders, which can only be read and executed. The security permissions for these folders state that the owner (the user) has full control over the subfolder and that the permissions are inherited from the parent object. However, the permissions for the group Administrators is 'read & execute' and NOT 'write'. I cannot change these settings no matter how I log on and I cannot uncheck the box that states that the permissions should be inherited from the parent control.
What I've already tried: Give ownership of all the files and folders to the specific user. Re-applies all security permissions to all subfolders and make them inherit these from the parent object, but this doesn't affect the subfolders that are read-only. I've also tried to set the attributes off of readonly but that is also denied.
Can anyone help me out here?
The server is running Windows 2000 Server 5.00.2195 SP4, the client is running Windows XP Pro Version 2002, SP1.
I have acces to all administrator accounts if neccessary.
