I have covert an access db from 97 to 2000. I was not the administrator(he doesn't work here now). I was able to convert the db, but when I create a macro that does a query and then exports the file to a file on my pc I get the following:
cannot update -- database or object is read-only.
How can I change this so I can perform this task?
Thanks in advance.

You can hold the shift key down and then launch the db. This will bypass security. You should then be able to do what you need to do.

This is the message you get when you are running a 97 application in 2000.
Security would not make the db read-only but would exclude you from various parts of the application.
I feel there is either an "exclusive use" issue or a "conversion" issue.
