I have set up userlevel secuity on a databse. It all works fine. I have a shortcut to the databse with the workgroup detail in the target also works great. If I try to access the database without using the shortcut it is not possible to access, also great.

However, if someone copies the database to their local drive they can open it using the default workgroup. They can do whatever they want and copy it back to the network.

Am I missing something in the Access setup or should copy side of things be prevented based on the share permission on the network?

Currently I have an issue not being able to delete records on the network which I think is related to the network share permissions, how would preventing user from copying the database from the network to their local machines affect the processing of data?

Cheers

This issue is more of Network Share permissions than Access
So you may have to post in similar field

Can you set the permission for the directory where your database resides as deny delete for everyone except administrator?

I am not a Network Guru, but I guess you have to play with directory permissions. File permissions are always failing when you need them

Best of luck

Thanks MinusM I will discuss with my network Admin here.
