There's a folder on a network drive, lets say it's called "Tektips", inside this folder there are 3 other folders called "One", "Two" & "Three" with files in then.

Now there's a security group called "tektips_RW" with 14 people in it which is applied to the Folder "tektips", and all subfolders and files.

All of the 14 people can access/read/change everything in the folders "One", & "Two". But with folder "Three", 1 person cannot open anything, but the other 13 can.

The error message is "User does not have access privileges"

So far I have taken user out of group and put the back in, I have deleted the users account and created another one and re-applied it to the "tektips_rw" group but with no success.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do apart from deleting the "tektips_rw" group.

Aye Ready....well, maybe ;)

Is the user a member of any other groups and if so do they have the deny permission set for this folder?

May be a dumb question but has the user logged out and then back in. Permissions do not hit until they do that. Also what OS is number 14 using? That may have something to do with it especially if it is 98.
One last thing. Have that user log into another machine and see if the same problem persists.

The user is a member of other groups but they have nothing to do with the folder or files that can't be accessed.

Everyones on either 2000 or XP

I logged the user on my own pc and the problem was still there.

fixed it.

I added the user to the "tektips" folder through it's own security and gave them the same permissions as if they were using the security group "tektips_rw". I could then open all the files in all 3 subfolders.

I then took the user out of the "tektips" folders security, and left them in the "tektips_rw" group. When I logged in as the user I could open still open all the files.

Although this has fixed the problem, I still don't know what the cause was.
