I'm trying to restore a Full backup and the corresponding weekday's incrementals onto a new file server. The Full restore job ran fine but when I try running the incremental restore, it gives me this error
Final error description: Access is denied.

Final error category: Security Errors

The logon credential was the same that I used for the full restore and it is part of the domain admins group. The credentials havent changed.
Does anyone have any idea why it gives me this error?

Check the Resource Credentials in the FULL restore job..do they match the same credientials in the incremental restore?

Yup, it's the exact same credentials. i went ahead and created new credentials for the local account on the server. It still gives me the same error.

I don't know what you are restoring, but with SQL Server there are two options for restoring...WITH RECOVERY and WITH NORECOVERY. When you use WITH RECOVERY, you cannot apply any other backups. And the default is WITH RECOVERY. So, if I do a restore of the FULL backup and do not say WITH NORECOVERY, the database fully recovers and I cannot apply any other backups.

Could it be something like that with you? That might give the access denied, since the file is 'closed' and you can't apply any other backups.

Another possibility, you don't have the files 'locked' for other people and someone/something is accessing it after you restore it. That could be keeping it from allowing you to apply additional backups. For example, you do the full restore and your anti-virus program starts checking that file...that might stop you from making any further restores.
